First Attempt at Solids

November 14th, 2009 by Neptunebaby

Elizabeth is eight months, 9 days old today and this evening is the first time I attempted to give her solids. She is EBF so technically she doesn’t need any solids until 1 year of age. I was going to wait until Thanksgiving dinner, but she kept reaching for my dinner so I got out a little bit of unsweetened apple sauce and gave her a bite. She did not like it at all! She made the funniest face. I wish I had taken a picture. She was perfectly happy to wash that taste away by nursing for a few minutes. I guess we’ll try something different on Thanksgiving. Nana is going to make her a sweet potato – cooked and mashed – so we shall see how she responds to that.

LOL, usually you have to give it a few tries. She is used to the boob. Makayla did the same thing but now that I think of it I don’t think she liked the applesauce either…

I am not too worried about it. It was a spur of the moment decision. I’m perfectly OK with her not having solids anyway.

Mikko took forever to eat solids! It’s funny how it’s such an individual thing. All I can say is, yea for breastfeeding!
