Elizabeth had her first “meal” today. I nursed her at lunch, then gave her some sweet potatoes and she loved them! No horrible face like with the applesauce attempt. Gabby’s first favorite was sweet potatoes too. So, at just shy of 9 months old, Elizabeth is officially starting solids. Obviously, breast milk will remain primary for many months to come, but she will be able to enjoy some yummy veggies and fruits now too.
She had her checkup today too. She weighs 15 lbs 9 ounces and is 27 1/4 inches long.

Elizabeth is eight months, 9 days old today and this evening is the first time I attempted to give her solids. She is EBF so technically she doesn’t need any solids until 1 year of age. I was going to wait until Thanksgiving dinner, but she kept reaching for my dinner so I got out a little bit of unsweetened apple sauce and gave her a bite. She did not like it at all! She made the funniest face. I wish I had taken a picture. She was perfectly happy to wash that taste away by nursing for a few minutes. I guess we’ll try something different on Thanksgiving. Nana is going to make her a sweet potato – cooked and mashed – so we shall see how she responds to that.

Elizabeth is almost 8 months old so we decided to put her in her own bedroom. This is going to be an adjustment for all people involved. I’m used to just getting her out of crib in the middle of the night to nurse her and either falling back asleep with her in bed with me or putting her back in her crib (which was right next to me). I’m hoping that everyone will get more sleep this way and my husband and I will have our bedroom back. Wish me luck…

We went to the cider mill on Sunday. We had a good time, although it was pretty chilly out there. We didn’t stay more than an hour. I was hoping it would be a little warmer so we could spend some time feeding the ducks and picking some apples. Perhaps next time.
Here are a few pictures of our fun-filled day:

Elizabeth, my nearly 6 month old daughter, had her check up at the doctor today. She got 2 shots and had to have her finger pricked and didn’t even cry. What a little trooper! Now she’s ready to go shopping with Nana as her reward. =)
